Chaves travel to Estadio Cidade de Barcelos to take on Gil Vicente in a round of Portugal Primeira matches. They both are in the mid table, and are separated with one place. Chaves are placed on the 12th position with 32 points, two points ahead of Gil Vicente who are placed on the 13th position with 30 points. They both boast similar goals records in the league as Chaves have scored and conceded 27 and 33 goals respectively, and Gil Vicente have score and conceded 26 and 32 goals respectively. Nothing much separates these two teams, but I believe that Chaves should be able to avoid a loss from this game for the following reasons:

Firstly. Chaves have shown to be more adventurous in their recent matches. They have always attacked their opponents from the onset and have shown a penchant to take risks. That could be difference between these two teams who are almost evenly matched. Gil Vicente have been known to sit back and soak the pressure once they perceive that their opponent is out to attack. They showed this so well in their draw against Sporting CP at their last time out.

Secondly. Gil Vicente have been in sort of a rot recently. They had lost two of their previous matches before the match against Sporting CP. These losses were due to their defensive lapses. In the quest to find a solution to their defensive problems, their manager, Daniel Sousa, adopted more pragmatic approach in their subsequent match against Sporting CP. He got his offensive players providing defensive cover to their defence. He was willing to sacrifice the attack for defence to stop the rot. I expect him to adopt same approach against Chaves who are more daring in their approach to matches. Considering that Chaves have a psychological advantage over them as they have failed to beat Chaves in their last six meetings, this is also one of the reasons I see him adopting this pragmatic approach against Chaves. Chaves beat them 3-1 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

This will be a closely fought match, and is bound to be entertaining. They are closely matched in strength. But due to the more daring nature of Chaves, I expect them to get a win or a draw from this encounter.
