Dundalk VS St. Patricks

Dundalk host St. Patricks for this Irish Premier League third round at Oriel Park early Saturday morning Beijing time. For the first tier in Europe this league is of very low level – even lower than for example the Finnish Veikkausliiga. Their offense has lacked structure, creativity, passing accuracy and also speed. Moreover, theur defense has not been too solid either. They were particularly disappointing in the opening round when they failed to beat UC Dublin at home despite being priced around 1.20-1-25 to win on the betting market. I rate UC Dublin as the worst team in this league. They were, in fact, very close to being relegated after last season. Dundalk were the better team in this game but not by a wide margin. They did record many more scoring chances but both teams recorded just three shots on goal. In their most recent match they faced Bohemians away from home and deservedly lost despite having 60% ball possession. Bohemians recorded more goal attempts (17-6), shots on goal and dangerous attacks. St Patricks have taken four points so far and I have liked the way they have played. However, they do have potential for improvement. In the first round they faced a strong team, Derry City, away from home as clear underdogs and took a point through a 1-1 draw after a somewhat balanced game. In the second round they were not at their best offensively but defended well against a decent team Shelbourne. The 1-0 reflects the events on the pitch pretty accurately.
