Hammarby have signed Norwegian player August Mikkelsen from Eliteserien club Tromsö. It cost around SEK 16 million and the player is described as future star of Hammarby.

The 22-year-old grew up in the northern part of Norway and he has been linked to Bodø/Glimt last year, but Hammarby won the competition.

Hammarby plays the first competitive match of the season when they face Brage in the premiere of the Swedish Cup. Mikkelsen will for sure take his part in the starting XI. The big question is in which position Mikkelsen will play.

During the training camp in Marbella, he was mostly tested playing as a "false nine", something the 22-year-old is not used to.

- It has been a completely new position I have played in now. It's an exciting position, but if I had to choose myself, I would have chosen one of the edges or the pitch. I'm a player who really likes to have the ball and to have someone in front of me. But I'll probably be able to handle this role when I learn it a little better, it's just a little unusual.

I think it will take Hammarby quite some time in the match to run Mikkelsen into a good false nine. Brage will thus have more chance.
