Before the Nice game they lost to Pau, a pretty small team that play in Ligue 2 in a Coupe de France (French Cup) game as clear favorites according to the bookies and were once again shaky in defense.. Marseille did deserve the win after recording eight shots on goal – poor Montpellier only managed one. Marseille also created more in xG.

Nantes, on the other hand, are a much better team than the standings reflect and are favorites to win this match. Their chance to take all three points is 42%.  They have 18 points to their account but would have deserved 8.12 more in terms of expected points! They are in fine form and have not lost any of their most recent four games. In their most recent game they faced Lyon, a dangerous team currently in 8th place, at home as clear underdogs but were the better team recording 1.42 in xG – Lyon's number was 0.63. Their defense is pretty solid – they have allowed 24 goals in Ligue 1 - but offense is only a little better than the hosts though.. They have netted the ball 18 times but their xG is 23.21. However, they can improve further in all areas of the game and would earn more respect on the betting market! I expect them to finish 9th or 10th – last season they ended up in 9th place with 55 points. I also want to mention that Nantes easily beat the hosts last time the teams met. 2-0 was the final score and Nantes only allowed Montpellier only one shot on goal.
