After securing a return to the Bundesliga last season, Werder's great performances have been carried over to the beginning of this season. The only victory they have achieved so far came by some "miracle" against Bayer Leverkusen, who are struggling quite a bit at the start of the new season. What is very noticeable in their game is the extremely small number of chances they create. In every game so far, except against Leverkusen, they managed to send a maximum of only two shots into the opponent's goal. Augsburg's injury list has been getting longer rather than shorter in recent weeks, which only complicates the situation before today's match. Because of all the above, Augsburg seems to me to be the ideal opponent for Werder's first home victory.
