One of the main “soap opera” stories this winter in Russian football was Tambov and its’ future. At one point of midseason break the club had just 8 players left training with the coaching staff as everyone else left in search of better life. Tambov’s debts and terrible financial status had been a subject of heavy discussion ever since the season kicked off. Eventually the situation reached a boiling point and there was no way out but to release for free, virtually, the entire squad. Once that was done, club representatives issued a statement saying they'd have to pull out of the Premier League competition. This provoked an imminent reaction from other participants as they stepped forward offering players on loan to Tambov only to make sure they stay in the competition and don’t break everything by their sudden exit.

As a result of all these manipulations, before the Cup game vs. Lokomotiv Tambov barely has enough players to fill the protocol. Just on Thursday this game was believed not to be held, but things improved, as I’ve already stated above. What Tambov will look like is a mystery to all. They will definitely feature mainly U19 boys or unwanted free agents without practice for months.

With all of this in mind, this match against Lokomotiv is definitely something they do not want to be involved in. It will be more of a practice fixture for Tambov, who have not had a single friendly together in their current shape.

I simply can’t see any other outcome here but a confident 2+ goals win for problem-free Lokomotiv. This is, arguably, the best offer of the day in Europe.
