Estoril are a very good club and are one of the clubs with the best project in Portugal, they have amazing scouts and a very good sports director - Pedro Alves. They lost very good players for this season like Soria, Lucas Africo had a terrible injury and will miss almost the whole season, Raul Silva, Gamboa, Chiquinho that left the club during the last season to Wolverhampton, Mboula, Rui Fonte and Leonardo Ruiz, this are a lot of important players from the last season. They bought a young coach that did a good job in Benfica B - Nelson Veríssimo, but the true is that he failed on Benfica’s main team when he assumed after the sack of Jorge Jesus. In the last match their right-back Gonçalo Esteves got a red card and due to that will miss this game and will be replaced by Tiago Santos, a player without experience in professional football as he only played for U23 team. I do believe this side of Estoril will be explored by Rio Ave and can be a problem to them. The centre-backs Pedro Alvaro and Bernardo Vital are very young and commit many errors and the coach Nelson Veríssimo already said that he wants a centre-back with a lot of experience as the team is all very young apart from the captain Joãozinho.

Rio Ave were the champions of the 2nd League in the last season 2021/2022 with one of the youngest coaches (if not the youngest) from the 1st League Luís Freire. His Curriculum talks for itself, from the 5th to the 2nd League he won all the titles and were promoted already a lot of times in few years. It’s the 2nd time he is in the 1st league after a bad experience in Nacional da Madeira where I was expecting much more from his team, but I am pretty sure that he learned from it and this season will be much better and maybe that’s why this time he decided to bring some players with a lot of experience like Aderllan Santos in the defense and Vitor Gomes in the midfield. Rio Ave was able to keep the best midfielder from the last season of the 2nd League, the amazing talent formed on Benfica - Guga Rodrigues. He carries the midfield of the team, he is the same style of Renato Sanches - they are from the same generation of 1997 and they played together in Benfica and in Portugal u17 and were the best duo I saw in early ages. They lost Gabrielzinho, a very good and fast player but was very inconsistent and replaced him with Paulo Vitor, I didn’t know him but he started the season really well, mainly in the last game against Sporting CP and he created a lot of problems to the best right-back of the league Pedro Porro. This game he will attack much more as the right-back of Estoril will make his debut. The must win for Rio Ave is really big as the coach Luis Freire said as they lost the first 2 matches and in case of victory they overcome Estoril and jump to a comfortable position.
