PSV had a good last season and although they did not manage to win the title ahead of Ajax, they slowly started to create a team that will be able to fight for the title in the Netherlands in the future. Although they lost a great coach, Roger Schmidt went to Benfica, the team was somewhat surprisingly taken over by Ruud van Nistelrooy, but judging by the results and the team's performance, it looks like it will be a very good decision. PSV won the Supercup, they beat Ajax in a very interesting game by 5-3 and the best player was Guus Till who scored a hat-trick. Till was brought from rivals Feyenoord for only 3 million euros and in my opinion, is the "steal" of the season. Luuk De Jong from Barcelona was also brought in and there is no doubt that he will do well to replace Eran Zahavi, who returned to Israel. When we add to that that Gakpo is slowly becoming a very good player, we get a team that will surely fight for the title with Ajax this season. In order to get off to a good start, they have to beat Emmen in the first round, who just entered the league, and I don't think PSV will have many problems with them because Emmen is one of those yo-yo clubs that enter and leave the league every year. Emmen won the second league last season and as champions directly qualified for the Eredivisie, but they did not impress in the preliminary games, they played four games against teams from the Eredivisie and did not lose, only to Zwolle. Emmen is not that kind of team which can hurt PSV so I expect an easy win for the hosts. PSV will play an important game against Monaco on Tuesday night in Champions League qualifications, so I don't expect players to push too much but a 2-0 or 3-0 victory should be enough to please fans and staff.
