After a slow start to the campaign, Cerezo Osaka has just been phenomenal recently. They will host Shimizu S-Pulse at home, on a giant Yanmar Stadium in front of forty-seven thousand people. The hosts continue a six-game winning streak on this field, just coming from a 3-2 win over Vegalta Sendai in the Cup. Winning seven of the last eight matches, Akio Kogiku's men are confident and ready to face Shimizu, one of the worst sides in the J1 League this year. Sitting in the relegation zone, the guests picked up only sixteen points after seventeen league rounds. They are coming from a 0-1 loss to Kyoto in the Cup. S-Pulse won only one of its previous seven visits, and is far from having a decent season under the manager Ze Ricardo. The last time these two sides met was back in March, when C-Osaka comfortably won 3-1 on Shimizu's ground.

Cerezo won the last four home meetings against Shimizu, with the last one being in 2021, when the match saw the hosts take the three points with a 2-1 win. A victory for Cerezo Osaka here would put them in fifth place, and could get them closer to the interesting title race between Yokohama, Kashima, Kashiwa, and Kawasaki. Scoring twenty-four and conceding eighteen goals this year, the hosts are solid both offensively and defensively, but the same cannot be said about the away team.

S-Pulse found the net only eighteen times so far, but has conceded twenty-five goals in the 2022 league campaign. Arriving at this clash, the away squad will miss three players, those being Renato Augusto, Togo Umeda, and Katsuhiro Nakayama.

Antlers won just one of their previous five duels away from home, and they have lost the last two away matches. The latest one was against Avispa Fukuoka, who beat Kashima 1-0 at the beginning of June.

The last duel between Kashima and Nagoya saw the meeting end 0-0, but with Nagoya being a more dominant side throughout the ninety minutes. Nagoya Grampus find itself victorious in four of the previous six duels against Kashima, defeating them three times in 2021. The visitors are offensively led by the Japanese international Ayase Ueda, who has found the net ten times in seventeen club appearances this year, being the top scorer in the J1 League. However, this player scored only once in June, and has even been suffering from an injury for three of Kashima's last five games.

He will have a hard time vs. Nagoya's great defense, which conceded only six goals at home this year, and has lost only once in its eight home league matches in 2022.
