KPV vs Ekenäs IF

KPV welcome visitors from Ekenäs, a small town in southwestern Finland, for this Ykkönen, the second tier of Finnish football, battle at Kokkolan keskuskenttä. The trip to Kokkola is a long one and the home advantage here is bigger than in many other Ykkönen matches. Football is a big thing for the people of Kokkola! Moreover, Ekenäs are traditionally not a good team on the road and take most of their points at their home arena. The visitors are definitely the better team by raw class but are only extremely marginal favorites here. The chance of my fans and me winning the bet with the +0.5 goals handicap option is 63%.

KPV’s player salary budget has been cut quite a lot for this season and the expectations are definitely lower than last season when they played very well in the in the latter part of the season after a slow start. They lost to TPS 0-5 in Turku last Saturday and this result seems to heavily affect the odds here! We must remember that TPS are the best team in this league and will probably be promoted to Veikkausliiga for next season. Their squad is superior compared to any other team in this league – especially on paper.. KPV were definitely not good in Turku but still had 52% ball passion and recorded more attacks and dangerous attacks! Perhaps 2-0 would have been a justified final score.. KPV currently occupy the 7th place on the standings with a respectable 12 points in the bank. Ekenäs have 18 points. Before the TPS match they played quite well against PK-35 in Helsinki as clear underdogs according to the betting market. It was a 1-1 draw and the ball possession was 50-50%. The team from Kokkola, however, recorded twice as many scoring attempts as the disappointment of the season, PK-35 and the visitors also had more attacks and dangerous attacks. Ekenäs, on the other hand, crushed SJK Akatemia, not a great team by raw class, 5-0 at home last weekend. The match was, however, a lot more balanced than the final score would suggest!
