Renofa Yamaguchi visits Tokyo to face Tokyo Verdy. This will be a tough game for Renofa, who is the worst guest in the J2 League. The previous four away matches vs. Verdy all resulted in a loss for Yamaguchi, winless on this field since 2017. The hosts are motivated about getting the top six this year, and have made some decent progress in doing so recently. Hiroshi Jofuku's men find themselves in fourteenth place on the ladder, but could easily enter the top ten with a triumph here. Yamaguchi is currently sitting in the seventeenth spot, losing four of their last five matches. They are without a victory away from home in 2022, and are the only team in the league which is yet to win while playing on the road.

Coming into this duel, the hosts are only without Toyofumi Sakano and Kohei Yamakoshi. Verdy is coming from a 2-2 draw against Grulla Morioka, continuing a four-game undefeated streak. The home side is one of the best-attacking teams in the second division, but is missing a higher place on the table due to poor defending. Verdy has scored thirty-six goals this season, but has conceded the same amount so far. This makes them the second-highest scoring squad in the J2 League, only behind the second-placed Vegalta Sendai. Playing great in the attack, there is no doubt the hosts' style of football will be too much to handle for Renofa's bad defense.

Yamaguchi has failed to win in all ten of its league visits this season. They are coming from a 1-0 loss to Okayama. Renofa welcomed Tokyo Verdy at home in the ongoing campaign, winning 3-1 back in April. However, awful away performances will not recreate the same result from the home ground, and there is no doubt Verdy wants its revenge for the loss.

After an awful start to the campaign, the hosts are starting to pick up lately. Morioka is just two points away from leaving the relegation zone, and will be going confident to the upcoming meeting. They already met Tokushima this season, but away from home, while the game resulted in a 5-0 loss. However, that was when Morioka was at its lowest in 2022, and there is absolutely no doubt they improved a lot since the already-mentioned debacle.

Both teams like to play a draw, as the hosts' last two matches both ended in a tie, while the guests have the most matches without a winner out of any league side this season. Tokushima Vortis shared points in thirteen out of twenty-one games so far, and has played a tie in six of its ten visits. Vortis' previous visit was against Ryukyu, the worst and the last-placed team in the league, which however saw these two sides play a 3-3 draw at the end of May. Morioka's last game was a 3-3 tie against Yamagata, continuing a four-game unbeaten run for Yutaka Akita's men. His squad is undefeated since June, and is definitely starting to do well in its first-ever season in the second tier, after earning a promotion from the third division in 2021.

Arriving in this clash, the hosts are without Takuma Takeda, Ren Yamakawa, and Paul Bismarck Tabinas. The guests are winless in the previous four away matches, and are in danger of dropping points once again.
