AC Oulu vs KuPS

AC Oulu welcome visitors all the way from Kuopio for this Finnish Veikkausliiga round 8 clash at Raatin stadion. KuPS have played an amazing 28 (!) matches in a row in Veikkausliiga without losing! This is of course, a stunning record! They currently top the standings with 19 points and a goal difference of 13:5. They have won all expect for one match in this league so far and played one draw. One might think betting on them every time is the winning recipe.. Well, this is most certainly not the case long-term! I only care about long-term profits and sometimes post picks with big odds and occasionally with low odds – both are needed to make a profit in the long run. First of all, KuPS are not in reality the best team in this league by raw class – HJK Helsinki are! KuPS are the second-best team in my power ratings that illustrate the teams’ pure class. Even KuPS’s excellent coach, Simo Valakari, has admitted that performance-wise they need to improve. He said that he was not satisfied with the latest two matches.

Veikkausliiga is the highest level of Finnish football. The level is not particularly high by European standards and high-scoring matches are quite rare. Almost all teams have a pretty strong defense though, but the tempo is low and few players are very skilled offensively. I expect Oulu’s Portuaguese coach Ricardo Duarte to choose a pretty cautious strategy today against a very strong opponent. The home crowd will fully understand this.. Veikkausliiga does not offer high-class entertainment for football fans I am afraid, and this is the case here but we do have lucrative chance to make profit – once again. The +1.5 handicap is high one for Veikkausliiga! We did lose a -1.5 goals handicap bet on Inter Turku last Saturday, the only Veikkausliiga bet lost this season, but the odds were too high, and I have no regrets! Interestingly,the last time KuPS won an away match by more than one goal in Veikkausliiga was against HIFK at Bolt Arena on the 22th of August 2021! They have over-performed overall this season and as I have said before, are over-valuated by the betting market in most matches, especially in handicap betting. However, we will surely bet on them if/when the odds are too high later this season!

AC Oulu have had positive start to the season and have many new, interesting players for this season. Even so, they do not seem to get the respect they would deserve on the betting market. They are currently in 6th place in the standings and have grabbed nine points. Moreover, they have not lost any home matches! There is a big chance they will today though as KuPS are of course clear favorites. However, the chance for them not to lose by more than one goal is big! This would bring us yet another winner! They were clearly the better team 1.5 weeks ago against HIFK despite the 1-1 draw and would have deserved a win. HIFK are not a great team though. In their most recent match, Oulu beat Honka, a very dangerous team 2-1, also at home, and defended very well. They will need to succeed in that today as well..

We have already made big profits betting on Veikkausliiga and on the 2nd tier, Ykkönen, and won again all three picks last Sunday when Ilves beat IFK Mariehamn, Jaro humiliated PK-35 4-0 (!) and TPS beat SJK Akatemia 2-0. As a Finnish person myself I know Finnish football extremely well and sometimes have information not publicly available – or sometimes I get the information before it is widely spread on the internet .. This offers myself and my fans to take advantage and place bets with extremely high expected value! KuPS played a strong first half in their most recent match against Haka, a decent team, but looked vulnerable in the second half and Haka managed to score. Oulu, at their stadium are a more dangerous opponent than Haka were in Kuopio…
