There are plenty of positive vibes at Genoa these weeks ever since the appointment of yet another manager Davide Ballardini. The returnee (Ballardini previously worked with the club from 2017 to 2018) has a positive 3-2-2 record with just 1 defeat in Serie A, on the road against strong Sassuolo. The other loss came in the needless Italian Cup, away to reigning champions Juventus.

Genoa’s improved gameplay has a lot to do with their injury list finally shrinking to minimum. Destro-Shomurodov tandem have struck a good partnership at the edge of 3-5-2 formation. Even the backline is looking more solid and has recorded an absolutely untypical back-to-back clean sheets, against Atalanta and Cagliari.

No squad issues for Genoa as they head into the really important game against potential relegation rivals.

Crotone is currently stuck bottom of the table with a few “records” to their name. The highest number of conceded goals is one of them. 43 goals after 19 rounds puts Benevento with their 40 conceded goals to shame.

Over the last month there was only one positive moment for the newly promoted club - when they smashed Benevento 4-1 on home soil earlier in January.
