It won’t be easy but guests should win here.

Rayo Vallecano is already in a safe zone, and their performances in the last rounds have been so poor. In fact, they are 17th if we look at the last 10 games, 19th if we look at the last 15. This is their real level, as they have been overperforming a lot in the first half of the season.

The lack of targets means that Rayo is playing with less motivation, and I’m expecting the same today especially after the victory this midweek against Barcelona in Camp Nou. Small teams use to make a huge decrease in their level after a big victory (Camp Nou, Santiago Bernabeu, etc).

The big change in Rayo has been at home, where they were the best team of the league in the first half of the season (unbeaten for 10 games with 8 victories and 2 draws) and now are winless in the last 6 with 4 defeats and 2 draws. But that’s normal when you dont have any target and your season has been a big success, as it has been for them.

On the other hand, Real Sociedad needs to win this game. They are in 6th position, but need to win for two reasons:

• Be sure that will hold that position (Europa League), as Villarreal is just 3 points below
• Why not, try to fight for Champions League position which is just 6 points above. 3 if they win this match, as Atletico Madrid (4th) already played and lost yesterday.

Their schedule is pretty difficult: Levante (improving a lot and fighting to avoid relegation), Cadiz (fighting to avoid relegation) and the two finals: Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.

This means that they must win this match against a team with nothing on play, because it will be the easiest one until the end of the season. And after Atletico Madrid and Viillarreal’s defeats yesterday, they have a great chance to make the difference with Villarreal bigger and try to fight for the Champions League.

Real Sociedad is improving a lot in the last rounds, mainly thanks to the recovery of several players who have been injured during the season. They lost last weekend against Barcelona but their last performances have been so good: only lost two games of the last 9 (Barcelona and Real Madrid) whilst only Betis (5th) and Sevilla (2nd) managed to steal them a point with a draw. The rest of the games were victories.

Guests have much more motivation here, are in better form and have more quality. It won’t be easy but seeing their upcoming games, the victory here should be mandatory for their targets.
